True Blood the Musical is Happening and Benedict Cumberbatch as Bill the Vampire?

Alan Ball, the creator and showrunner of HBO’s True Blood, was at a 10th anniversary screening of the pilot episode at the Vulture Festival where he announced details of what may be the next musical to hit the Great White Way aka Broadway. Deadline

“It tells the story of vampires coming out of the closet,” Ball said. “Ultimately it really departs from the book, because people aren’t ready, and they’re too bigoted and they end up going back in to the closet.” He said the project, which Nathan Barr first announced in 2014, is currently being work-shopped, but didn’t reveal whether he will have any sort of involvement. “

There was also details of who went through casting for the popular show. Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, and Jennifer Lawrence could have been our Bill, Sookie, and were-panther. That would have been such a different show, wouldn’t it?

A site that I follow on Twitter asked what three shows made an impact on me. I listed the original runs of Twin Peaks and the X-Files as my first two because they changed my view of what TV can be. True Blood was my third and that I feel like True Blood changed TV programming and changed what people wanted to watch on the small screen. But, I could not list another show that changed how we think and how we watch TV. Not many shows can make a person question everything and still make them wanting more. Mr. Robot is one of these types of shows.

While I was on vacation, I heard that Mr. Robot was ending its run after the next season. This is one of the few shows that became a part of a bunch of noir-esque shows that did not shy away from delving into topics like mental health, political strife and the impact it has on society as a whole. We will have to wait for a bit to see Elliot’s journey’s end, I hope he gets the resolution he needs to be healthy.
