News You May Have Missed: Jessica Jones Season 2 Trailer, Westworld Hint, Firefly Books, Lobo Movie, and Star Wars

Oh, it looks like Jessica’s past is haunting her and she wants her questions answered:

I know everyone is looking forward to this show’s return.

Browncoats! Rejoice! The Universe of Firefly will expand in a series of books. EW

Are you a fan of Westworld? Go to this site: Delos Destinations

You will see ALL 6 parks that they control.

Warner Bros. is developing a Lobo movie n Michael Bay may be helming it.

Lobo was born on the utopian planet of Czarnia. Unfortunately for them, the foul-mouth brawler’s idea of a perfect world is one covered in bruises and blood. He wiped out his entire civilization and made himself the last of his people. Considering his name means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it” in his native tongue, perhaps they shouldn’t have been too surprised. Lobo took his predilection for murder and mayhem along with his rocket-fueled motorcycle and went on to become the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.

Lobo looks out for himself first and foremost, and is never without a plan to cash in at other people’s expense. Though he’s glad to use weapons, Lobo doesn’t really need them. His super-strength means his fists are made for bashing. Couple that with his advanced healing powers and unquenchable thirst for blood, and he’s proven to be an incredibly difficult foe to stop—unless you can trick him into entering into a deal. Mercenary or not, Lobo always keeps his word…though he’s not above getting creative in his interpretation of “true to his promise.” As an intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo’s gigs take him all over the universe, but he never lingers for long because there’s always someone or something else to apprehend, preferably as painfully as possible. DC

You know, I think these studios need to take a break from all of these superhero movies. Mind you, the comic book was funny in a subversive way.

The biggest news of the past week, well outside of showing the trailers for a slew of movies that everyone is dying to see…is

News You May Have Missed…

Congratulations to the man we will always know as Eric Northman, Alexander Skarsgard. He won the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for his work in Big Little Lies. A well deserved win! And he brought up his True Blood role in his acceptance speech, which was hilarious!

Congratulations are also in order for Game of Thrones for winning a SAG for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series.

Congratulations are in order to The Tick, which was given a second season.

Denis Villeneuve, who directed Arrival and Blade Runner, has signed on to do Dune. I loved both Arrival and Blade Runner, but Dune is such a behemoth to take on. Writing an adaptation of this book and making it hit all the key moments, but not making you fall asleep due to long pauses…will be a huge undertaking. Good Luck!

Netflix’s Castlevania anime will be back with 8 new episodes in the summer! I liked this anime because it was short and the story was really engaging and fast-paced. I hope that continues in the second season.

We lost a lot of key characters during the past few months in the DC TV universe. Kid Flash left Center City to find his place in the world and both Victor Garber and Franz Drameh left Legends of Tomorrow. But, we learned that Keiynan Lonsdale, aka Kid Flash, has joined the Legends team as a series regular. EW

Seamus Dever, Castle, will be in Titans that will air on the DC streaming service. TVLine

One last thing…

Lucasfilm released a synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story….

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”

For some reason, this movie worries me. A lot has happened behind the scenes. Honestly, who they picked for Solo was not who I would have picked. The poor actor had to get an acting coach and the whole movie had to get a new director and basically totally re-shot. That just screams….prepare for the worst.

What do you think?

News You May Have Missed…

If you are a politically savvy adult, it was an interesting week.

But, let’s focus on some intriguing and interesting news that may shape what you will be looking forward to in entertainment in the foreseeable future.

Marvel fans, prepare yourself for the continued onslaught of movies in the Marvel Movie Universe. Vanity Fair recently interviewed the man with the plan, Kevin Feige, and we learned the following:

“Both Iger and Feige hinted at how the franchise (whose studio has rights to 7,000 characters) will expand into different realms, with James Gunn working in close collaboration to possibly spin off some characters from the extraterrestrial world of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel is “22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before—intentionally,” Feige said.”

Who will be next? What will the stories entail? Does Disney’s re-engaging in talks with 21st Century Fox change these plans…like add more to the docket? Or does the docket include some of the properties owned by 21st Century Fox? We shall see.

The Anime that introduced me to Anime, Cowboy Bebop, will be adapted into a live action show by Tomorrow Studios.  Honestly, I understand why you would want to adapt it, but you will not get the feel of the show with an American adaptation. Casting should be interesting. But, I think the corgi from Dirk Gently should be perfect as Ein! For more about this adaptation, go to Deadline.

It took a year, but Disney’s live action version of Mulan has found it’s Mulan! Chinese actress Liu Yifei will portray the brave warrior. THR.

Margot Robbie is working on a standalone Harley Quinn movie that has nothing to do with any of the other slated movies that revolve around Harley. THR.

Kevin Williamson’s psychological thriller Tell Me a Story to series, has found a home on CBS All Access. The show is based on a Spanish series by Marcos Osorio Vital. It takes place in present-day New York City. It will turn classic fairy tales into dark tales of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder. TVGuide.

Stranger Things was renewed for a third season! Netflix.

Netflix has also picked up the untitled Sabrina the Teenage Witch series that revolves around Archie Comics’ The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which is a horror/supernatural series. I picked up volume one at New York Comic Con and I loved it and I am now very intrigued at what this adaptation will look like.

Casting News:

Popular Disney actress Dove Cameron has joined ABC’s Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Titans has it’s Robin. Warner Bros. released the first image of Brenton Thwaites as the Boy Wonder. The show follows Dick Grayson as he tries to corral and lead a young group of Superheroes. The live action series will debut in 2018 on the WB.To view the image, click on EW.

Saïd Taghmaoui, from Wonder Woman, has left FX’s Legion before the upcoming second season, but FX stated that the character was recast. He was supposed to portray the Shadow King. Variety.

Good Omens

Have a great week!

Who Was the Tops on TV?

It has been an eventful week, hasn’t it?

We have had a massive and entertaining four show crossover event, boys ended up stealing the show in a couple of our favorite shows, and if you are not watching KDramas, than you do not know what you are missing.

I may have my issues with all of the CW Superhero shoes for various reasons, but I have to admit their Crisis on Earth X crossover event had me glued to my seat. IT even made me tear.

Let’s just get to the overall plot, shall we? It is Iris and Barry’s wedding. Like any wedding, something goes wrong. Usually, it is a drunk uncle cussing out someone or throwing up on the cake. That would just be too easy in the DC universe. What goes down is truly epic. The doppelgangers for Ollie and Kara, along with Harry #1, invade Earth 1, why…to kidnap Kara in order to save Earth X Kara. This Kara is suffering from sun poisoning and at any moment she may go nuclear.

This invasion does not go according to plan. They failed to factor all of the heroes on the Earth 1 and their desire to keep humanity safe, not underfoot as the Superheroes of Earth X do.

There were fun moments, like Alex and Sara hooking up after the rehearsal dinner and then kicking ass together as they went to town on the Nazis in Earth X and on Earth 1. It seems like there is no long term romance for these two, but their friendship has been solidified.

The sad moments revolved around Dr. Stein and Jefferson. We knew from the get go that Dr. Stein wanted to end his partnership with Jefferson so he could spend time with his wife, daughter, and grandchild. He even devised, with the help of the other scientists, with a way to allow Jefferson to still be a Legend. But, Jefferson was struggling with the idea of losing the only father figure he has ever had. When Stein hears what has made Jefferson struggle over the last few days it makes him understand why Jefferson has been distant. But, he ultimately proves his love for Jefferson when he gets show multiple times and is mortally wounded as he tries to protect Jefferson and everyone else. He asks  Jefferson to take a concoction that would cut their bond and end his own life. Victor Garber did a wonderful job as he said his goodbye to Jefferson and the Legends of Tomorrow.

Actually, no one really dies in these shows…since there are so many earths. I’m guessing we will see him again.

The surprising moments were much more plentiful:

  1. Barry let Original Harry go….to terrorize another day.
  2. Ollie killed his fuhrer doppelganger.
  3. Leonard Snart, well his Earth X version, is back on the Waverider and being highly sympathetic to his brother. But, he let his love, The Ray aka Russell Tovey (who will hopefully be back).
  4. Barry and Iris finally got married.
  5. After Ollie failed to get a yes out of Felicity…Ollie and Felicity got married.

Now, is the marriage of Olicity legal? Not sure, since there was no marriage certificate. But, with Ollie being a Mayor…I am sure this issue will be rectified.

This crossover event is the reason why the CW was the standout of the week. Between this and Riverdale, which played with presenting a show that hinted at potential future horror storylines with a zombie deer and the Candy Man scaring the bejeezus out of Juggie and Archie. We ended up learning a lot about the adults. The Sheriff and The Mayor are hooking up, which dispels the idea that Betty had of him…being the Black Hood. Now, while Juggie being under the thumb of a snake charmer may be the worst thing to happen to the Jones family and all those that love him. It was the story revolving around Josie, the Pussycats, Cheryl, the Mayor, and Chuck. Josie wants to evolve musically and she has her chance via Cheryl. But, that means she has to sneak behind the Pussycats. When they catch wind of her plan, they drop her like a wet towel. That leaves her in Cheryl’s line of sight. Unfortunately for Josie and Chuck, Cheryl is trying to be the only person that Josie can rely on. Cheryl is truly up to no good.

Ultimately, this was all to show that everything that was going on was a test by the Black Hood and apparently Riverdale failed. Dun, dun, dun…

Second is more of a lumping in…there were two shows that had these two young actors that stole the episode. In Mr. Robot, Elliot is ready to end it all, until the little brother of Trenton. Mohammad forces Elliot to go to the movies and then follow him to a mosque. Throughout their discussions, you learn a lot about how Elliot feels. He, like Angela, is broken. But through his discussions with Mohammad…he finds a purpose. He has to redeem Trenton and Norm. He has to help Angela. He has to undo what has been done.  He even goes to Angela to try to talk to her. That last scene made me all teary.

That little boy commanded all his scenes. Keep and eye out for him.

The other boy to make note of is Martin, Oswald’s little sidekick on Gotham. As Gotham teeters on the cusp of war, Martin is used as a pawn. But, Penguin will not allow his little protegé to go up in flames. That little boy, as he confesses to Penguin, as he is kidnapped, and as he is ushered unknowingly to his death, you just want to take care of him.

So, as Sofia teams up with Barbara, Tabitha, and Selina, they learn that Oswald do anything to keep his power and that means it’s on like Donkey Kong. It’s war!

However, they do not know one thing…there is a power growing in Gotham and Lee (with the help of Ed Nygma) is orchestrating this power surge. Will she be thrown into the war for Gotham? Also, will she lose her right hand man, now that his little friend has come back to sit on his left shoulder?

This episode was a great episode for Gotham, but it still pales Crisis on Earth X. Just sayin’

Outlander was amazing! I just saw it! You could have knocked me over with a feather when Geillis and Lord John popped up in Jamaica.

This just spells doom and it did.

Geillis has big plans for Scotland and it involves three sapphires. One of which Jamie stole from the treasure chest, Geillis learns of Jamie’s connection to the missing Sapphire, the sapphire he gave to Lord John.

Guess what…Lord John pops up. He is the bloody Governor of Jamaica. When he sees Jamie…Claire could see what we know. He loves Jamie. I mean the man is carrying around the sapphire that Jamie gave him. He was just asking for trouble and he got it when Geillis saw that sapphire…her sapphire.

Of course, this was not the worst of it. Who else popped up? Captain Leonard and he arrested Jamie.

Now, the most heartbreaking scene involved the slave trade. The way they treated those poor people, it was so hard to watch.

The most fun show to watch this week was Dirk Gently. The scattered pieces have started to come together. Dirk has solved the case (via the hidden mural that shows us that the Cardenas had two sons. One they rescued from the boat and is presently at Black Wing in a coma. They need to get him to the land that he dreamed up.) and has recruited the Rowdy four to save Todd and Amanda, but they still have to contend with the nutty Suzie….who has learned to use the pool of foresight…or whatever that thing is called. Back in the normal universe, Tina and Farah go off to find out where Hobbs is. But, the Mage popped up…this is not good.

It was nice to see Ken taking the brass ring and owning the new operation as Friedkin is still at a loss about everything. However, contending with Priest and Friedkin and the possibility of crossing paths with Bart again…what will he do???

Now, there are two shows you should seek out.

  1. Hulu’s Runaways – This show is Marvel’s first foray in the Hulu world and it is based on the west coast and revolves around a group of kids who find out their parents are involved in a Scientology-like organization. They witnessed their parents kill a teen girl. That teen girl’s death is supposed to help this flaky old entity that is locked up in a room at a sanctuary. But we learn more about the adults in the second episode and they are all screwed up and at least a third of them want out of this weird religious order. We also see these kids start to gel together and pair off into couples and bond as siblings. It is filled with a lot of head turning moments. The leader of the church getting intimate with the entity….and then there is a dinosaur.
  2. Dramafever’s Revolutionary Love – This is such a fun little Korean drama that follows Byun Hyuk,  a son from an affluent family whose fortune comes from the food industry. He is a happy-go-lucky guy that did nothing. Unfortunately, after a series of missteps his father kicks him to the curb. Who saves him from living on the streets, but his childhood friend. This friend is friends with Baek Joon. A beautiful and smart young lady that refuses to do full-time work due to what her later father went through. As she works part-time jobs to make ends meet, she decides to help Hyuk. Through mentoring him, Byun grows as a person and decides to help Joon(a) redeem her father’s good name. In doing so, he learns how corrupt his brother and father are.  There are a lot of funny, sweet, screaming at your TV moments. It is only 16 episodes and only one season. Trust me…watch this.

So much good TV, but I am looking forward to the hiatus.

Stranger Things Season 2 and News You May Have Missed…

Before I go into the news of the day, I wanted to briefly go over the second season of Stranger Things.

While everyone, but Lucas and Dustin, are still dealing with the repercussions of what happened last year. We get new people in town that add a lot to the show. Some we love and some we hate:

  • Maxine and Billy. Maxine is the object of desire for Dustin and Lucas. She is a headstrong tom boy that wants to be a part of something, especially because her home life is a little erratic due to her stepbrother. His name is Billy and we hate him. Billy is full of himself, likes to one up everyone, is racist, and loves to physically and mentally abuse his stepsister as well as anyone else he feels is beneath him.
  • Bob is Joyce’s new love. He has known her since forever and is the one person that treats Will like a kid. He is sweet, funny, and genuinely loves Joyce.
  • Dr. Owens is a government stooge that is responsible for getting rid of the gate, but he genuinely cares for Will and wants to do what is best for Will and his family.
  • Murray is hired to investigate the death of Barbara.
  • Kali is the girl that Eleven knew when she was being kept at the lab. Kali has the power to make people perceive things that are not really there.

The reason we are back in Indiana is that there are things happening that are putting this town in danger again. The gate is spreading it’s evil through vines throughout the town, Dustin found a baby demogorgon and it is like a gremlin when you feed it, Will is still connected to the upside down and there is a sentient creature that has attached itself to Will.

Stealing aspects of Lord of  the Rings, The Exorcist, Jurassic Park, Aliens, Cthulu, and every John Hughes movie from the 80’s, we see these three stories converge in the second half of the 9 episode season and it is a mad dash to figure out how to keep Will alive as they try to close the Gate, with the help of Eleven.

Eleven had her own journey, as we watched her act like any teen who is trying to find where she came from and what her path in life is, and that led her to her Mom, her “Sister”, and back to Hopper and her friends. Which happened in the nick of time.

Of course, these characters succeed because they work together even when hope is almost lost. Does this mean that they are in the clear? There is a season 3.

Things I loved, Bob the Superhero for valiantly doing what he had to do to save Joyce and Will, Steve and Dustin brought out the best in each other, when Eleven and Mike saw one another after so much time, Maxine retaliating against Billy, the Exorcist -like scene with Will getting rid of his virus, and the Ball!

This season did not have to compete with the first season, it stood on it’s own two feet and was wonderful.

Now onto news…

CNBC – It is happening. The Marvel Universe may end up being housed under one umbrella, Disney! Do you know what that means, Deadpool may end up at Disneyland with Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse. It’s like a sign of the apocalypse.

Casting News –

  • ComicBook – Jesse Rath has been tapped to play Brainiac on the CW’s Supergirl. This is kind of funny because Krypton cast Blake Ritson to play Brainiac. This character is so popular.
  • Asher Angel will play Billy Batson in Shazam!Shazam
  • We learned that Wentworth Miller is bowing out of the Arrowverse:No more captain cold

One last thing…

There are personal things going on in my life that may make my posting a little sporadic.

Keep good thoughts out in the universe!

Gotham – A Dark Knight: The Blade’s Path Recap

Gotham – A Dark Knight: The Blade’s Path Recap

Synopsis: Nygma uses Butch to regain power and identity; Sofia Falcone appeals to Penguin’s vulnerable side; Bruce makes bold moves with the dagger in his possession.

How many times does Alfred have to charge into GCPD and freak out in front of Jim before everyone realizes that Master Bruce should have a police tail on him 24/7.

This time, Bruce decides to kill Ra’s at Blackgate. He initially hedges on killing the sleeping evildoer, but when Ra’s threatens the future lives of the wife and children of Bruce…he does the deed.

Ra’s always wanted Bruce to do it, he was the only person that he deemed worthy of the task. Yet, there was no transfer of power when Bruce killed Ra’s. It was just a moment of Bruce realizing what he had done. By killing Ra’s, Bruce believes he has done wrong. This is not what his parents would have wanted for him. So, he decides to chuck his crime-fighting outfit into the fire. Luckily, Alfred stops him from doing so.

The one thing that Bruce does not know is that Ra’s had a visitor, Barbara.  Ra’s gave Barbara something. What that thing is, well…we’re not really sure what it is. Nor do we know how it will effect Barbara or even Gotham.

While our future caped crusader closed a chapter in his life, or so he thinks, our favorite evildoers have their hands full.

Ed is still reeling from the fact that he lost his mental edge. Since day 1, Ed has reveled in the fact that he was one step ahead of everyone. That is why he excelled in his initial job with the GCPD. It is also why he excelled as a criminal.

Now that he has lost that capability, what is he? What is his worth? It was really sad to see hi fail at robbing a pharmacy. But, luck is on his side.

Ed is all smiles

Butch has come from his grave with both hands, white hair, a pasty countenance, and the verbal capacity of grade schooler. Butch a.k.a. Solomon Grundy is in need of assistance and he thinks that Ed will be his friend. However, as in his past life as Butch, he is being taken advantage of. Ed leads Solomon to Cherry’s. It’s an underground fighting ring.

Do you know who else we saw at Cherry’s?

I know! Why is Lee there? Why is she back in Gotham? So many questions.

Sophia Falcone is still sewing the seeds to get to Penguin. She successfully gets him to have lunch with her as a way to have everyone in Gotham see that the Falcones accept Oswald’s stranglehold on the city. The lunch does not go well as one of the dishes reminds Oswald of his dearly departed Mom. Yet, as Oswald sits by a fire and tries to ease the pain in his foot. Sophia selflessly kneels before him and warms his foot with her hands and hums softly. This act of kindness reminds him of his mother. Hook, line, and sinker.

Penguin is sucked in

This episode shows how the bad guys really make the show.

Next: Gordon and Bullock pursue a serial killer who’s assassinating cops and dressing them in pig heads…PYG!

Arrow: Tribute Recap

Synopsis: Anatoly returns to Star City with a sinister agenda as Oliver tries to balance being the mayor, the Green Arrow and William’s father.

Being Green Arrow, The Mayor, under FBI investigation for potentially being the Green Arrow, and a Dad is proving to be a lot to carry on his shoulders and he has to make a choice.

But this idea only comes to fruition after an old comrade comes to cause havoc in Ollie’s city. What he wants is 20 million dollars. As these two confront one another, Anatoly tells Ollie that he could have done far worse than kill one person. He could have gone after William.

Between the revelation that his own son is a target, be it from the criminal world or via the FBI (they are willing to interrogate William).

There is also William confessing to Oliver that he does worry that he will lose Oliver and be left alone.

What does one do in this situation?

Well, if you are Oliver, you turn to the one person you can trust to step into crime-fighting shoes.

That person is John Diggle.

The deal is sealed

While this may look like a wise choice, Oliver does not know that John is suffering from an injury caused by shrapnel from the explosion on the island and it will not get any better.

How can John agree to don the hood? How will the team adjust to this change?

Next: Next of Kin- A rogue black ops team led by Onyx breaks into Kord Industries and steals something lethal. Meanwhile, Oliver struggles to connect with William so he reaches out to a surprising source for help.
