What You Missed…

This is what had everyone talking in my inner circle, the teaser for Stranger Things, which lists all the episode titles for the upcoming third season that will air in 2019:

  • Suzie, do you copy?
  • The Mall Rats
  • The Case of the Missing Lifeguard
  • The Sauna Test
  • The Source
  • The Birthday
  • The Bite
  • and The Battle of Starcourt

It also states that all the episodes take place during the Summer of 1985. That was a good Summer.

Netflix also released the trailer for their highly anticipated upcoming live action show that is based on the Gerard Way comic, The Umbrella Academy:

The show will air on Netflix on 02/15/2019 and stars Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe and Kate Walsh.

Between this, Deadly Class, The Gifted, Marvel’s Runaways, and Cloak and Dagger, it is clearly evident that networks (traditional, cable, and streaming) are aiming for a certain demographic that can propel a show with their ravenous fandoms.

We also have the trailer for the Doctor Who New Year’s special:

One thing, with the confirmation of Jodie Whitaker coming back for season 12, we learned that season 12 will come early 2020.

I know…we went through this with Sherlock. We’ll survive.

Here are some quick recaps of the shows I am covering:

Blood of My Blood: Jamie and Claire are surprised when Lord John Grey drops in on Fraser’s Ridge with an unexpected traveling companion; when Grey takes ill, Claire must reconcile her personal feelings with her duties as a doctor.

JJ

Yes, yes…I was on the edge of my seat when Lord John Grey popped up at Fraser’s Ridge while on his way to Lynchburg and do you know who tagged along?

Jamie’s son, Master William.

Why did John take the circuitous route of getting to Lynchburg through North Carolina…well, to test himself to see if he had feelings for Jamie and this is all due to the fact that he had no feelings for his wife when she passed away. This all comes out when John comes does with the measles.

This was great because it:

  1. Allowed Claire and John have this moment to come to terms with one another and to come clean about certain things. Remember, they both love the same man. So, it starts off with Claire telling John that she felt he was sent, by Tryon, to spy on Jamie,  it then went on with her telling how pissed off she was that Culloden robbed her and their now adult daughter of twenty years with Jamie. and then the kicker was when John reveals to Claire that Jamie offered himself to John in exchange for John to become William’s surrogate father. That was a lot for Claire to swallow. But, she can see that John holds Jamie in high regard and at the end of the day, while she may have Jamie…he has William. And they come to a tenuous truce.
  2. With John being highly contagious with Measles, Claire sends Jamie and William away. This allows Jamie to reconnect with his son. At first, Jamie does not reveal who he is to the lad…and that is not Dad, but the man that used to take care of the horses on his estate aka Mac. The fact that Jamie did not tell him who he was bothers William. The fact that his Dad is potentially dying also puts William in a mood. However, he goes fishing and deer hunting with Jamie and tries to prove that he is not just a kid in Mac’s eyes. That is until he does something that Jamie told him not to do and that was take a fish from Cherokee land. They demand blood, so Jamie tells the Cherokee that William is his son and that they should take his life in lieu of William’s. William is not having it and tells the Cherokee that he was not Jamie’s son and that they should rightfully take his blood. Well, they basically give him a paper cut, because he is so brave. There is a moment where William asks Jamie why he never turned back when he left all those years ago. Jamie replied that he did not want to give him hope of seeing him again. So, when it was time for John and William to leave, as they trot away on their horses…William turns to look back at Jamie. That is hope that they will cross paths again. And I suspect a part of William believes that there is more to his Mac.
  3. Murtagh. He is so not happy with Jamie and John’s friendship. With Murtagh being the leader of the local Regulators group, sitting and listening to John as he laments how the Regulators are dangerous, it just rubs him raw…however once Jamie fesses up that William is his son, he decides to back off.
  4. . Jamie gave the ring to Claire, the one made with the candlestick and then they make sweet, sweet love after 1000 kisses.

Yes, the episode ended on a high note. But, happiness can only last so long…

Next: Down the Rabbit Hole – Brianna follows in her mother’s footsteps and travels through the stones back in time to 18th century Scotland, where she struggles to make her way to the Colonies to find her parents

Elseworlds – Part 1 – Barry and Oliver wake up to find they’ve swapped bodies, but Team Flash doesn’t believe them, so the two heroes travel to Smallville on Earth-38 to get help from Supergirl.

There is something magical about these crossover and that is the camaraderie and humor of all the heroes working together as they try to deal with whatever cataclysmic issue they are dealing with.

Now, Barry adapts to being the Arrow a bit faster than Oliver as the Flash and that makes sense. But, their first instinct is to get to one another to figure out what is going on. Barry thinks this is all great…until he finds out that Oliver woke up in bed with Iris and that makes him want to fix this stat.

Now, Iris tells Oliver that Felicity is broken by the deal that Oliver cut. She tells him that he is ruled by violence and revenge and that is a bitter pill to swallow.

Then…Iris drugs Oliver and Ralph knocks Barry out.

Cisco finds out that the  red skies is causing a disturbance and sees The Monitor. The Monitor is the reason this is happening. He gave a book to Professor Deegan so he could change reality. Now, we are dealing with a robot that looks like the Monitor, but has all the supes powers.

We see Lois and Clark! YaY! This Lois is the first Lois to make me think of Margot Kidder and that made me so happy. This Lois also knows that Clark is Superman. So, we caught up with Kara and Clark as they talk about Kara leaving the DEO and Clark having returned from Argo City. The good thing is that Kara knows Barry is Barry and Oliver is Oliver.

Boliver

But, Oliver is annoyed that Barry is still so jovial when he is the Arrow and he just wants to take Barry out..when Barry and him do the infamous Arrow/Running test from season 1. But, Barry wanted to make Ollie suffer in a teasing fashion. That just set off Oliver and Barry storms off. They eventually hash out their issues and what comes out of it is we see how different they are and what really motivates them to do what they do.

They agree to play the parts they were given, which is perfect because Cisco pops up to tell them that they should return home because there is a robot tearing up the city. Guess who is coming along…Kara, Clark, and Lois! Were they successful in stopping him? Nope. He copied all of their powers.

They realize that they have to download a virus to stop him. Barry is sounding like the Arrow for real and Oliver is giving a thumb’s up. It’s weird. Now, Like Iris, we are worried that these guys will not be able to change back to who they really are.

Cisco vibes Barry and Arrow to see what he saw when the Monitor gave the professor the book. The Monitor saw the vibing (Is that a word?) and ominously tells them that they cannot change what has been put into motion. Yet, Oliver knows where to find the Professor and the Monitor…and that is in Gotham City. So, we will watch Oliver, Barry, and Kara (Clark and Lois went back to protect their earth) go to Gotham to cross paths with…?

No, not Batman. Yes, Batgirl.

Barbara

I have to admit I like Barry in the Arrow outfit, he looks good in it and this episode was so fun. Can we see more of Superman and Lois Lane? I love their dynamic! I also love that Barry and Iris’ love transcends just the physical.

Can’t wait for Part 2 – Still trapped in each other’s bodies, Oliver and Barry head to Gotham City with Supergirl to find out why their reality changed and cross paths with the mysterious Kate Kane.

What You Missed…

As Tony Stark says, “Part of the journey is the end…” And that is what we are getting as we get our first promo for Avengers: End Game.

This movie will tie up the first 10 years of the MCU and allows it to move on to a new slate of storylines and characters that will help it continue to dominate the comic-book based movie franchise wars.

Who knew Ant-Man would be a sign of hope for Captain America and the fans of the MCU. This movie is slated to be released in October 2018.

Captain Marvel, which will be out in March, also released a new trailer:

While, Captain Marvel is the hope that the Avengers need…she is the character that a good percentage of the population has been craving for. A Marvel hero that can rival Wonder Woman. How she set’s us up for End Game will be interesting to see.

While we are on the topic of female-centric superheroes, we are happy to announce that Jodie Whitaker will indeed be back for season 12 of the BBC’s cult classic series that revolves around the adventures of a Time Lord named “the Doctor”, an extraterrestrial being with two hearts. Now, the news outlets have stated that this bit of news would quash any worries that fans had about Jodie leaving the series. Well, season 12 was never an issue. It was actually season 13 of Doctor Who that people were worried about. Whatever the case may be, it is nice to get confirmation that we will continue to see Ms. Whitaker again as the Doctor for another few episodes.

It seems like there is no lagging in the foreseeable future when it comes to superhero programming for movies and TV. Fans want it and the networks and movie studios are happily offering whatever they can get their hands on.

Case in point, Plastic Man, which will be developed by the WB as part of their DC slate of movies. If you do not who Plastic Man is, here is a bit of info on the humorous character that was popular in the late 70s and early 80s. Variety

Plastic Man was a crook named Patrick “Eel” O’Brian. Orphaned at age 10 and forced to live on the streets, he fell into a life of crime. As an adult, he became part of a burglary ring, specializing as a safe-cracker. During a late-night heist at the Crawford Chemical Works, he and his three fellow gang members were surprised by a night watchman. During the gang’s escape, Eel was shot in the shoulder and doused with a large drum of unidentified chemical liquid. He escaped to the street only to discover that his gang had driven off without him.

Fleeing on foot and suffering increasing disorientation from the gunshot wound and the exposure to the chemical, Eel eventually passed out on the foothills of a mountain near the city. He awoke to find himself in a bed in a mountain retreat, being tended to by a monk who had discovered him unconscious that morning. This monk, sensing a capacity for great good in O’Brian, turned away police officers who had trailed Eel to the monastery. This act of faith and kindness—combined with the realization that his gang had left him to be captured without a moment’s hesitation—fanned Eel’s longstanding dissatisfaction with his criminal life and his desire to reform. Wikipedia

Plastic Man, coupled with 2019’s Shazam is a clear indication that the DC Extended Universe is taking a break from the much more tradition fare of serious movies that we have seen in recent years. With that said, we learned from Amy Adams during the Actors on Actors series that she is out of the DCEU:

“I think I’m out of the DC Universe now.  I think they’re revamping that. I don’t know the details.”

This makes sense as Henry Cavill has moved on to The Witcher on Netflix.

Amazon is also throwing itself deeper into the superhero pool with the announcement that it is developing Deadtown which is based on The Refrigerator Monologues, by Catherynne M. Valente. The collection of short stories  come from the points of view of the wives and girlfriends of superheroes, female heroes, and anyone who’s ever been “refrigerated”: comic book women who are killed, raped, brainwashed, driven mad, disabled, or had their powers taken so that a male superhero’s storyline will progress. These women meet in a purgatory like area called Deadtown. Syfy Wire

Thanks to Chris Hemsworth, we have our first look at the Men in Black reboot:

MIB

Anime fans, you may be thrilled or upset by the fact that Netflix is adapting Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell manga, titled Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. The series will air in 2020. TVLine

One last bit of news that makes all of you 90s kids thrilled. We have the Kim Possible live action movie trailer from Disney:

Now, if you follow me on social media than you know that I am a sucker for a gimmick that makes the movie experience all the more fun. I went to see Mission Impossible: Fall Out in 4DX and it was the most fun I have ever had in 4DX…wait embuste, I watched one Marvel movie and I remember the water spraying on my face as Captain America hurled himself down during a storm and I almost fell of the chair. I told everyone, only purchase a ticket for 4DX if you know you will be in a roller coaster ride of action during the movie. So, we learned of the upcoming slate of movies from SONY that will air in that 4DX in 2019 and two of the movies that may be worth forking over so much money is Spider-Man: Far From Home and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel. However, I suggest you wait and see the first round of reviews from fans to see if it is worth watching in that format.

There is also ScreenX.  This is a new immersive cinema experience that has every wall in the theater acting as a movie screen. Now, Aquaman will air in that format and that may be the movie to watch it as a chunk of the movie is under water.

Reminders: Set your DVRs or mark your calendar as busy, because The CW’s Arrowverse crossover event, Elseworlds, starts on Sunday.

DEC 9 The Flash – Elseworlds, Part 1 – When Barry Allen and Oliver Queen wake up one morning and realize they have swapped bodies with each other.

DEC 10 – Arrow – Elseworlds, Part 2 – With Oliver and Barry still stuck in the other’s bodies, the two get a lead on John Deegan and head to Gotham City with Supergirl to figure out why their reality has changed.

DEC 11 – Supergirl – Elseworlds, Part 3 – Supergirl, The Flash, Green Arrow and Superman engage in the battle of their lives.

Also, on DEC 14, the Chilling Adventure of Sabrina will air their Holiday special on Netflix.

And the Nominees Are…And More…

Well, it seems like everyone has started to toss their hats into the “Why Exactly Did Netflix Cancel Daredevil?” ring. The show was a fan favorite and doing quite well numbers-wise. Again it is all about to powerhouse who are about to go head-to-head in the streaming wars. Who else has written about this? TV Guide, Deadline, etc..

On the upside, we finally got a teaser for the upcoming final season of Game of Thrones:

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

The other happy news is that American Gods has a premiere date for the second season, and that is Sunday, March 10 at 8/7c.

Image-1Gotham is just around the corner and this may be the best promo for a TV show in a very long time, click on the link:

Here is the latest trailer for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina:

For fans of Asian quirky dramas and Asian Pop music, Netflix has nabbed “Demon’s Path,” from Malaysia’s Astro group. The show will start airing on Dec. 22.

The series follows a forensic pathologist who has the ability to see the last 10-seconds of life of the dead. Working together with a friendly exorcist and a policeman, they solve homicide cases. But as their investigations proceed, they become the target of a murderer. Variety

Recap: Doctor Who – It Takes You Away

The Doctor takes a nibble of the local soil and our team finds out that they have ended up in Norway in 2018, they head through the forest to a deserted house.  But, there was someone boarded in the house and of course they investigate, because…why not?  They find a young woman hiding in a closet and she is lured out by a cheese and pickle sandwich that Graham always carries with him. Just like a Granddad. The girl tells them that her Dad was taken by the “thing” and he has been missing for four days. Everything seems a bit off kilter and nothing makes sense. As expected, the Doctor decides to help the girl.

They hear it and Hanne is terrified.

All of the sudden, Graham finds a mirror and he and Ryan cannot see themselves in it.

“We’d know if we were vampires, right?” Ryan asks Graham.

The Doctor locks the mirror with the sonic screwdriver and then goes in to see what the mirror is. It’s a portal. A portal to what? Well, there is only one way to find out and so Yaz and Graham go with the Doctor through the portal and Ryan stayed behind to protect Hanne. With string being the only way for the em go back to the mirror, they come across a creature named Ribbons and all he wants is the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.

This screams, “It’s a trap!” Where is Admiral Ackbar when we need him?

The trio learn that they are in an antizone, which is what the universe makes wherever the fabric of space and time is threatened. Like a protective buffer zone to keep threats at bay.  There are also flesh eating moths that react to light and movement.

While we are talking about traps, Ryan finds a speaker outside making the noise of the monster. He gets rid of it and when he goes inside, Hanne overtakes him and goes through the portal. Lesson here is that Ryan is a horrible babysitter. However, when crap hits the fan, Ryan is there to protect Hanne.

In a weird twist, we find Erik, Hanne’s Dad, in another plane that is similar to ours and he is with his dead wife who seems perfectly alive. The only problem is that she can’t leave that place. Then…there is a noise that Graham recognizes and it is his deceased wife, Grace. Poor Graham. But, why?????

IMG_2283 (1).jpg

We hear of a story from one of the Doctor’s Grandmom’s about something called the Solitract. It is apparently a consciousness and energy that cannot allow the universe to work. The Solitract was removed and being in the Solitract is terrifying. Why? It is a trap! It is using the grief of Graham and Erik to create physical manifestations of the people that they loved in order to keep everyone there. But having them there is making this Solitract unstable and as a result it will collapse. So, the Doctor has to tell everyone from our universe to leave this world…

For the Doctor to tell Graham to leave Grace behind is painful. When Grace 2.0 tells Graham to leave Ryan behind because he was a clever lad, well…in that moment Graham knew that this was not “his” Grace. So he was kicked out of the Solitract universe. The Doctor also gets Erik to be kicked out. She, of course, sacrifices herself. But, she convinces the Solitract frog-being that even if she leaves, they will be friends forever. So, she is ejected as well.

Now, Erik and Hanne know it is time to move on from the grief and move back to Oslo.

Graham is still hurting, but when Ryan calls him Granddad….so much crying from me.

Graham is the heart of the show.

Next: The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos – Answering nine separate distress calls, the Doctor and team arrive on the remnants of a brutal battlefield on the planet Ranskoor Av Kolos. This planet has many secrets. An amnesiac commander? Mysterious mists? Who or what are the Ux? A deadly reckoning awaits the Doctor and team once they have the answers….

This is the finale for this season.

After this, we will get the New Year’s episode. We’ve heard that next season will be much shorter and it may be Jodie Whitaker’s last as the Doctor and Chris Chibnall’s last season as showrunner. I think that would be a disaster. Let’s hope that we get many, many more seasons with this great team.

Recap: Riverdale – The Man in Black aka Hiram Has His Claws in Everything and Everyone as Far as the Eye Can See…

Our fearsome foursome is split into threes. Fearful that he will be caught, Archie hits the road and ends up at a farm just outside of Riverdale. Betty finds herself up against a formidable foe from her past and Veronica makes a risky business decision.
Archie and Jug end up on a farm that eerily reminds me of Hershel’s farm from The Walking Dead. This farm and it’s inhabitants, Laurie Lake and her younger gun-totting sister, Gracie, lure Archie in, while Jug listens to his gut and wants to skedaddle asap. Of course, Archie decides to start helping out on the farm because why not?!? The farm is located just outside of Riverdale near a town called Athens. We come to find out that the town of Athens is void of any men and is essentially deserted. While he decides to take a few pics of the ghost town, he sees some familiar symbols all over the buildings. This older woman states that the town went downhill after the drug-laced fizzle rocks appeared in town as the symbols appeared. He also sees that the locals are playing Gryphons and Gargoyles and they tip him off that all the men are off building a prison and a facility to make drug-laced fizzle rocks. Hiram has his claws in Athens. Therefore, Archie is not safe at all.
IMG_2227
This episode clearly shows how easily Archie is swayed. For some reason, he keeps making these decisions that always lead him down a path of potential death. It was surprising to see that he did not fall for Laurie, but the pull of Veronica and the turmoil that Hiram caused has him fully tethered to Riverdale, emotionally. Of course, this does not mean he does not suffer. He should have listened to his Jiminy Cricket, Jughead.
When Jug returns to the farm, he sees that Hiram is at the farm and he rushes toward the barn where he sees that his ole pal has been tied up and awaiting his slaughter. Luckily for Archie, his friend rescues him and they live to see another day.

From all of this, only one thing can be surmised…Hiram uses Gryphons and Gargoyles as a way to push his fizzle rocks, which may look like candy, but they are the new jingle Jangle…but he is not the Gargoyle King. Who is that? Last week, in one of the images you could see that the Gargoyle King had a face and that face may be someone we are familiar with…Claudius? This makes sense as Clifford was well entrenched in the local drug trade in season 1.

Now, Jug and Arch are heading to Jug’s Mom and Jellybean.
IMG_2261
When we turn to Veronica, she has made the move to move out after she learns that Minetta has disappeared. So, she moves into her speakeasy. She realizes that she needs move income, so she works with Elio to turn the speakeasy into a casino one night a week. Hiram is delusional in a way to make it look like he is innocent and that all he cares about is his family. This puts a strain on Veronica as she no longer has the safety net of her parents home. She is out in the wild on her own and therefore a sitting duck. Elio of course is setting his sights on Veronica, Pops, and Le Bonne Nuit. But, she knew what he was up to due to her Dad was tipping her off. She scammed the scammer with his help. This help makes her think that maybe her Dad is not as bad as she first thought. However, that changes when Pop tells her they found, what they believe, is the body of Minetta. Unfortunately, there is no way to id the body due to it missing its head and hands.
Now it is Betty’s turn. She is taking an ink blot test and every singe one reminds her of one of her cases. Wait, is this the medical facility that was used by FX’s Legion. Well, the nuns give the kids fizzle rocks when they behave. Then, Ethel moves into her room and she believes she is the Queen Bee of the place. Nothing deters Betty from investigating. Especially when she sees Claudius Blossom?!?!? and Hiram meeting there. This bit of info drives her to learn the truth. Unfortunately for Betty,  Ethel is not only delusional (She has a Gargoyle King Mood Board WTF?!) …she is also relentless as she thwarts every attempt of Betty getting to the truth and out of dodge. This also includes faking a seizure, which allows her to be taken to the infirmary. There she learns that Hiram is testing the Fizzle Rocks on the kids. Unwillingly, she gets her shot to meet the Gargoyle King and it fades to black and we hear a scream. Then we see drugged out Betty take the ink blot test again and she is truthful.
IMG_2277 (2)
She has taken the Kool-Aid and it is all down hill for her and the rest of the kids of Riverdale…or so we think.
Also, what’s with these nuns?!?!?
Next: Outbreak – Jughead and Archie head to Toledo to visit Jughead’s mother and sister; Betty inches closer to uncovering the truth about Gryphons and Gargoyles; Veronica and Cheryl take on Hiram after more students fall victim to seizures.

Recap: Outlander – Savages

As many weeks have passed, we see that Claire has picked up Cherokee and is learning about their medicinal ways via her growing friendship with the Cherokee healer, Adawehi. We also see that their home is nice, cozy, and lived in. They are living a happy life, where Claire tends to her neighbors and to her growing homestead.  Their home is done and looks lived in. Jamie is on the hunt for people to move on to his land, but everyone is fearful of the Governor’s taxes, so they balk at Jamie’s generous offer. At first, he is unawares of any rumblings of the locals taking action against the Brits, but that all changes when someone from his past pops up.
That person is Murtagh, who is the local Smithy. When they see each other, I cried. They are family, any you need as much of them in your life in the new world. Murtagh does a favor for Jamie, but then asks Jamie to attend a meeting. In that meeting, we learn that Mutagh is a regulator and all the local Scots are fed up with the Brits and it seems a revolt is in the works. However, when Murtagh asks Jamie to sign in, Jamie says no. He is in a bind, because in order to get the land, Jamie had to promise to not be involved in any unrest. Yet, Jamie did promise to not stop the unrest from happening.
A highlight was when Murtagh popped up at Fraser’s Ridge to surprise Claire. So much love Murtagh has for Claire and Jamie, his Godson.
Hearing Jamie describe Brainna’s birthmark, something he did not know of, and this moment with Murtagh, were the only bright spots for a tumultuous fortnight for Claire.
She helped a local German woman give birth to her daughter, Klara. Unfortunately, Klara, her mother and father died from a measles out break. The Patriarch of the family blames the local Cherokee because after Klara was born, they popped up to get water for their horses. Herr Mueller was not happy about the “Savages” going on his property. So, he grabs his rifle and aims for them. Claire successfully quells the potential blood shed and the Cherokee bless the water and go off. Shortly thereafter, the young parents and baby die. Herr Mueller goes insane with grief. and refuses to listen to reason and gifts Claire with the scalp of Adawehi, the Cherokee healer. She shuns him for his heinous act and Claire burns the scalp with herbs to honor Adawehi. The Cherokee torch the house of the Germans and kill Herr and Frau Mueller for what he did.
When Jamie returns home, that man can read her like a book. One look at her face and he is running to her to console her and life goes to back to normal.
Back in the 1970s, Roger is hunting down Brianna and he gets a clue in the form of a letter that was supposed to be sent to him a year after her trip there. In the letter, she tells him that she loves him, but she knows something happens to her parents so Brianna goes to the stones.
Does she make it to her parents?
Will Roger follow?
Next: Blood of My Blood – Jamie and Claire are surprised when Lord John Grey drops in on Fraser’s Ridge with an unexpected traveling companion (Jamie Jr.); when Grey takes ill from the measles, Claire must reconcile her personal feelings with her duties as a doctor.

Follows parents Dorothy and Sean Turner, who hire young nanny Leanne Grayson to help care for their newborn baby… but, as with any Shyamalan creation, there’s a twist. The show has a 10-episode straight-to-series order, but there is no premiere date set. Deadline

Now, while the geekverse lamented the fact that Netflix cancelled Daredevil, Marvel issued a statement that should give fans a little hope:

“Marvel is extremely grateful to the huge audience that loved Marvel’s Daredevil,” said the studio in a statement issued earlier today. “From the moment of young Matt’s first act of heroism to the birth of Page, Murdock, & Nelson, it has been a unbelievable journey. We are incredibly proud of the amazing showrunners and writers starting with Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie and Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio and our casts who brought our characters to life with such excellence, and every one of the fantastic crews in NYC. We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.”

Finally, fans of The Walking Dead…rejoice! You will be able to go on a tour through all the set of the series. EW

Do you love Gotham, like I do, well this may be your last chance to see them together. The Paley Center is having an event for fans to hear a q&a with the cast, as well as seeing the premier a little earlier than everyone else. You may see me there…

Netflix Cancels Daredevil and More News…

I know everyone is wondering why? Why would Netflix cancel one of their premiere shows. A well-written, well-acted show with action sequences that rivaled their big screen cousins has been given the heave-ho. Why? It is clear as day. Disney+ is going to be their number one competition once that streaming service is up an running and having your competition’s shows partially owned property on your streaming service…it may seem wrong. However, Daredevil stood apart from all of the superhero shows that are on TV right now. It is a sad, sad day. Due to licensing, Netflix owns Daredevil. So the likelihood of another channel grabbing it or any of the Marvel properties that are on the roster for Netflix is slim to none.  So, prepare yourselves for the cancellations of Jessica Jones and The Punisher, just sayin…

Regarding streaming services, Warner Bros. is entering the ring. Warner Media will launch their series at the end of 2019. Unfortunately, the streaming service will possibly be one of the most expensive services out there. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception that service will get. Variety My advice to you is to download your Harry Potter movies now and save your money.

South Korea is going down the superhero route with Stan Lee’s The B-Team. It revolves around B-rated superheroes fighting against a mad scientist who created them. While we are on the topic of superheroes, it seems like Chris Evans was not totally truthful when he mentioned how emotional his last day of shooting for Infinity War was. Digital Spy interviewed Joe Russo and he mentioned the following:

“I think it was more emotional for him than us, only because he’s not done yet,” Joe shared, rather cryptically. “I don’t want to explain what that means, but the audience will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

So, if you are a fan of the MCU than be prepared for either something good or something bad.

We got our first glance of Shadowhunters‘ Kat McNamara posted her new look for her stint on Arrow:

katmcnamara

TV Insider and the actress gave us info on the first Arrow episode that she will appear in. “Unmasked,” we will meet Maya, a cage-fighting bad-ass and Star City thief who is first seen giving as good as she gets in the ring.  We shall have to wait and see if this is going to be a long arc or if this is an arc that may have the actress on Arrow for a longer period of time. FYI – Shadowhunters returns Feb. 25th.

Courtesy of Marvel, we got a look at the second season of Marvel’s Runaways, which airs on Hulu.

I have to admit that the first season was a little to sabes…shaky, but by the end of it I was looking forward to the idea of a second season.

Here is the last bit of heroic news, two of the characters or Stargirl have been cast. While the particulars of the characters are being kept under wraps, we do know that Yvette Monreal and Christopher James Baker have joined the cast.  The show follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore, played by Brec Bassinger. Courtney inspires a group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past and as a result this group evolves into the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. Deadline

We learned that we will be getting an Anime version of the wildly popular cult sci-fi classic, Blade Runner via Adult Swim and Crunchyroll. The title for the series is Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Syfy

Recap: Riverdale – Manhunter aka Where Archie Goes Death Follows…

That ending was a whopper…I would have used  that as the Fall finale. So many things happened and only one of them was good.

  1. Archie is exonerated. Veronica’s snooping paid off, she found a video on her Mom’s computer (the file on the desktop had the image of the brand that is on Archie?) and sent it off and she got the judge to lift the charges against Archie. This is possibly the only time that I have ever felt bad for Hermione. Her daughter and her husband are butting heads 24/7 and they do not care if they drag her or each other down. Anywho, Veronica’s hopes of going back to normalcy with Archie in Riverdale was to no avail. The great part about Archie being exonerated is that we get rid of Sheriff Minetta.
  2. butch-and-sundance.jpgArchie and Jughead have hit the road to keep Archie and all those he loves safe and mainly because of Hiram. This is prompted after Archie finds a bunch of kids dead in a mine and then learning about Joaquin. After Archie gets through to Veronica via her cell and tells her goodbye. He has left her behind and it seems like the fearsome foursome will not be together as group for the foreseeable future.  Why?
  3. Betty has been sent to the Sisters of  Quiet Mercy, god help her. Why? Well, the Gargoyle King showed up in her house and that terrified Alice. The funny bit was that FP showed up right after the Gargoyle King was found in the living room. (Did you see the person walk outside the window before the Gargoyle King popped up in Alice’s house? Raising an eyebrow to all of it. Also, in my pic, the GK has a face?). During her art class at the home for troubled youth, she sees that everyone is painting pictures of the Gargoyle King. What kind of lunacy has overtaken this town?hereagk

  4. Joaquin (who was carrying one of the masks of the minion of the Gargoyle King, which reminded me of the Death Eaters from the Harry Potter books) is dead. He died after he told Jughead about the symbol that is branded on Archie, that the Warden was forced into using Archie, and the man in the suit, which had Juggie go straight to Hiram, who rebuffed him and told him to look at everyone else…even his own Father. Shortly thereafter, Joaquin was found dead with the mark of sacrifice on his forehead. An ominous sign to all those that try to stop the Gargoyle King.
  5. Josie suffered a seizure. She is the third person to have suffered this.
  6. The most interesting scene, that Hercule Poirot or Sherlock Holmes would have enjoyed, started with Betty inviting all the families to Veronica’s speakeasy under the guise of the Gargoyle King summoning them there. Why are the so easily manipulated? She interrogates them and it gets interesting when the parents start to point fingers at one another. The main question is did Daryl Doiley kill Featherhead in the bathroom with cyanide or did Penelope Blossom kill him with cyanide? Daryl was later found dead in his car, but Betty learns that Daryl did not kill himself…he was poisoned with Oleander, which is a flower.pen

It seems like everyone has a piece of the puzzle that is the Gargoyle King as most of them have done something underhanded or devious under the pretense of protecting the group as a whole.

One happy moment:

Next week: The Man in Black – Fearful that he will be caught, Archie hits the road and ends up at a farm outside Riverdale; Betty finds herself up against a formidable foe from her past; Veronica makes a risky business decision that could cost her everything.

What You Missed…

A lot happened today that had everyone abuzz…

From Margaret Atwood announcing a sequel to The Handmaiden’s Tale to Archie Andrews becoming a fugitive on Riverdale, it indeed was a busy day.

Casting News:

We have our Dracula. Claes Bang has been picked to portray the morally complex anti-hero in the upcoming Netflix/BBC three part limited series that is being helmed by Sherlock’s Steven Moffat. BBC

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is adding to their cast. McKenna Grace will play a pre-teen Sabrina in the upcoming holiday special. She will ask Santa from something special.

The following are listed as recurring and will be in the next season of the popular series:

  1. Alexis Denisof will play our favorite character’s boyfriend. That’s right, Mary Wardwell has a fiancee named Adam Masters and he will be coming back from working with Physicians Without Frontiers. It will be interesting to see how he deals with Mary who is technically dead and whose body is possessed by Lilith.
  2. Jedidiah Goodacre will play a Warlock by the name of Dorian Gray?!? He is the owner of Dorian’s Gray Room, an exclusive nightclub. He is an enigmatic gentleman of an indeterminate age and is very good at keeping secrets, especially his own — a cursed portrait he hides from prying eyes. Deadline

Netflix’s version of Lord of the Flies,  aka The Society, has cast some familiar faces. The show follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.

The cast includes Legion’s Rachel Keller. She will play Cassandra, who is popular and the most impressive amongst her peers, and they all know it. A natural leader, she is the longtime rival of Harry. If she has one person she loves most in the world, it’s her sister, Allie, who will be portrayed by Kathryn Newton. The rest of the cast includes:

  • Gideon Adlon – Becca, a mature, tough and adventurous, yet always on the outside looking in. She’s the daughter of a single, alcoholic mother and in order to keep the rest of the world at bay, she hides behind her camera, viewing the world with a reporter’s eye.
  • Jacques Colimon – Will, a foster kid and a true orphan. He’s an outsider in West Ham who finds his natural social disadvantages disappearing in New Ham.
  • Olivia DeJonge – Elle, a dancer who is brittle from living in the obsessive, cruel world of dance. Her fear and uncertainty in this new world leaves her susceptible and vulnerable to those who don’t have her best interest in mind. She will struggle to find her own self in this dangerous frontier. Whether she finds salvation or, like those to whom evil is done, comes to do evil in return, only time will tell.
  • Alex Fitzalan – Harry is the epitome of privilege. He’s handsome, wealthy, ambitious and, in almost every other way, entirely unremarkable. Harry finds himself the leader of the roughly half of the population that would choose to recreate, in the New World, an exact replica of the world they left behind.
  • Kristine Froseth – Kelly, the Queen Bee of West Ham. She’s smart and has a firm moral compass. But now that the rules have been rewritten, she may well take the opportunity to rewrite herself as well. In doing so, she finds herself torn between the old high school hierarchy and the new world order.
  • Jose Julian – Gordie, a smart and grounded whiz kid that proves to be indispensable in the new world. He secretly pines for Cassandra. When he learns about her health issues, he vows to teach himself basic medicine so he’s prepared should crisis strike.
  • Natasha Liu Bordizzo – Helena. All of her certainty – about her boyfriend Luke, about God – masks her deep-seated uncertainty. More confident in Luke’s ability to lead the town than Luke himself, Helena finds herself stepping into that role in the face of conflict.
  • Alex MacNicoll –  Luke is the high school quarterback and is built like one. His girlfriend pushes him to be a leader, but he’s much more content with being a supporter.
  • Jack Mulhern – Grizz is a jock with a poetic side. Incredibly smart, he becomes important to the power struggles and game of survival in the new world.
  • Salena Qureshi – Bean
  • Grace Victoria Cox – Lexie is quirky and slightly unpredictable. Lexie comes into her own in the political arena of New Ham.
  • Sean Berdy – Sam is sweet, sensitive, and funny. Born deaf, he is painfully aware of the unfair vicissitudes of fate.
  • Toby Wallace – Campbell is a sociopath, insecure and angry at the attention his brother’s “difference” has stolen from him. Netflix

In Development:

The CW continues with their superheroes, but Super Clean is different. Written by Rothchild, Super Clean explores the superhero genre from the human side. Becky Masters, an uber-organized and brilliant human, and her ragtag team of non-powered cohorts navigate the danger and drama of “cleaning up” after superheroes and villains, all while Becky works to prove her superhero boyfriend is innocent of a dastardly crime. Deadline

Empty Out Your Pockets:

Game of Thrones fans, prepare your credit card for the only way you can see a special reunion special that was hosted by Conan O’Brien. The special was shot earlier this year in Northern Ireland, will only be seen in the complete Seasons 1-8 DVD GoT box set to hit shelves sometime in 2019. es launching in April will feature six supersized episodes, including a battle scene producers said took 55 days to shoot in three different locations.

I’m a fan, but I pay extra to have access to have HBO. To pay extra to have DVDs is asking a lot. Smh.

Kid at Heart:

Han looks and sounds like Han! Love it!

Elseworlds:

Part 1 – Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) wake up and realize they have swapped bodies with each other. In attempting to get to the bottom of it, they try to enlist the aid of Team Flash, but nobody’s buying their story. They go to Earth-38 to get help from Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and it is here that they meet Kara’s cousin Clark, as well as Lois Lane. LaMonica Garrett will also guest star as The Monitor. Kevin Tancharoen directs the episode, which is written by Eric Wallace & Sam Chalsen.

Part 2 – Barry and Oliver are still stuck in each other’s bodies, but a lead on what’s really going on will bring them to Gotham, with Supergirl in tow. It is there that they will meet Kate “Batwoman” Kane, and will welcome Ruby Rose to the Arrowverse. Not only will we get Batwoman in the episode, we’ll get another Gotham landmark as well — Kane’s information will lead the trio to Arkham Asylum. Jeremy Davies will guest star as John Deegan, a change-up from Davies’ somewhat-Arrowverse-adjacent role of Ritchie Simpson on Constantine. James Bamford directed the episode, which was written by Marc Guggenheim.

Part 3 – Supergirl, Superman, Green Arrow, and the Flash will all “engage in the battle of their lives”! Jesse Warn directed the episode, with a story by Marc Guggenheim and a teleplay by Derek Simon and Robert Rovner. Syfy Wire
